KOHLS Corporation N56W17000 Ridgewood Dr. Menomonee Falls, WI 53051 (262) 703-7000 Corporate comments online: http://tinyurl.com/9lmhgck Dear KOHLS Corporation, I have been a frequent customer of KOHLS for years. I have read your policy on Socially Responsible Product Sourcing and I am wondering what KOHLS Corporation is doing at present to secure the safety and fair treatment of workers in Bangladesh. Since the tragedy in Bangladesh, where 1,129 mostly young women workers were killed, and over 2,000 workers terribly injured, I cannot, in good conscience, continue to purchase products made by garment workers who are being put in dangerous situations, treated with cruelty and paid what amounts to a "starvation wage" of 12 to 24 cents an hour. I cannot endure the thought that my dollars might contribute to the suffering of young workers. Your corporate policy astutely states, "When possible, we attempt to bring noncompliant facilities into compliance rather than terminate our business relationship." I commend the approach of applying pressure to improve pay and working conditions at factories opposed to abandoning the workers, but such effort requires immediate and sustained effort. I look forward to learning about the progress you are making, particularly in regard to sourcing from Bangladesh factories. Further, I encourage KOHLS to share examples of concrete progress that you are making with your customers and the public at large. Shoppers, like myself, are likely to reward KOHLS for results--- even if it means paying more. Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to your reply so that I can consider my shopping options more meaningfully. Sincerely,
